Life has been quite the adventure. After dropping out of Sydney Law School, Emma started a restaurant in the suburbs, running the kitchen until a fire shut it down. She then rode dressage horses for a year before finally returning to finish law school.
After law school she joined The Boston Consulting Group, where she worked for 3.5 years on a lot of alcohol related projects, then went on to do her MBA at Harvard Business School, co-founding Startup Lockdown and Hello Alfred in the process before joining Snapchat in Los Angeles in 2015. She left Snapchat about 18 months later to officially launch Nomadica - the wine she'd been dreaming of for years.
She's happily married to her wife Carolyn, and new-mother to Apollo - the German Shorthaired Pointer who has taken over their house and their hearts.
It's been quite a journey so far and it feels like it's just beginning. Follow her on Instagram @emtoshack
Kristin got her start in wine while working in restaurants in San Francisco. Though she was busy completing a pre-med degree at Harvard, when applying to med schools she couldn’t deny her love of the vine and committed to the pursuit of palate.
She was actually at Harvard the exact same time as Emma, but they didn't meet until both of them were in LA, years later.
She is a certified sommelier; currently on the sommelier team at Osteria Mozza where she works with a 70 page, all-Italian wine list. She previously worked at Husk in Nashville, Straight Wharf in Nantucket and as Wine Director for F10 Creative in Palm Springs (Mr Lyons, Birba, Cheeky’s, Avalon Hotel).
In college she majored in sustainable agriculture and gender studies. That makes her a bad ass former female farmer. She’s still passionate about working with high quality, small producers who focus on sustainable practices and biodynamic farming. Follow her on IG @kristin___o
Apollo got his start in life in June 2017. Born into a big family who all went their own ways early in life, he found Carolyn and Emma on Instagram and decided they would be his new moms.
He loves pigs ears, shredding papers, chasing birds and cuddle time with his moms. He has an excellent nose but hasn't put it to use in the wine space just yet.
He likes living in LA but prefers his grandparents backyard in Vegas and is dying to visit his Great Grandpa's farm in Georgia and get himself some quail, which will pair nicely with mommy's Pinot Noir.

The Founding Story
Harvard MBA and a former-chef, Emma started Nomadica in 2016 after she left Snapchat. Everyone thought she was crazy. Proof she isn't? The first editions of Nomadica: really solid wines, beautiful cans, heaps of press coverage, and stocked in some great venues throughout LA.
What is "Nomadica?"
Nomadica is the place Nomads go to sip wine before resuming their travels. It's a place of freedom and adventure. It's where you go after breaking the rules. It's where you're ok to do things differently. It's unpretentious. It's unconstrained. It's fun.
We work with friends to curate art for our special edition cans - putting the work of painters, illustrators, photographers, designers, street artists directly into people's hands..
The result is a series of limited edition beautiful cans, filled with serious wine, which you can take with you anywhere.
